Winning and commended poets invited to read their entries
at a gala prize-giving aboard the River Prince, March 25
as part of York Literature Festival, March 15- 26.
The event will feature a reading by Andrew McMillan, sole judge, who will read every entry.
Prizes: Winner: £600
Second Prize: £150; Third Prize: £75; Fourth Prize: £50
The Helen Cadbury Prize (formerly The York Prize): £50 awarded
to an excellent poem from an entrant with a York (YO) postcode.
At the judge’s discretion, up to ten Highly Commended
and up to 15 Commended poems will each win their writer a certificate.
Poems are welcomed on any subject.
To be eligible, poems must be in English, original and not previously published.
No longer than 40 lines, and fit on a single A4 page.
Entrants must be over 18 and live in the British Isles.
Entry fee: £6, single poem; £15 for up to two or three poems; £17.50 for four; £20 for five.
There is no limit to the number of poems that can be submitted..
